The Digital Marketing apprenticeship is a 2-year fully funded programme coordinated by Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim Education and Training Board and will be rolled out nationally in a number of locations using a blended learning approach which includes:
1. On-the-Job Learning in the workplace
65% in Year 1 and 63% in Year 2 learning with their employers using experiential learning and workplace tasks and fully supported by a workplace mentor and by the MSLETB programme team.
2. Off-the-Job Learning in the classroom and online
35% in Year 1 and 37% in Year 2 in a face-to-face workshop and synchronous online setting. Employers will be required to release the apprentices for these off the job components.
The Digital Marketing apprenticeship was developed to ensure a consistent number of apprentices are hired, developed and retained for Digital Marketing organisations. It ensures that approved industry partners hiring apprentices are seen as employers of choice with regard to outstanding training, development and progression opportunities within their organisation. The goal is to deliver committed, adaptable and ambitious individuals into the Digital Marketing sector year on year.
This programme is an “earn and learn” model, designed to empower the Digital Marketing apprentice with underpinning knowledge, skills and competencies required to become an effective employee in a dynamic sector. It is open to a wide range of employers, across all industry sectors, both large and small firms, on a national basis. It specifically targets demographics who wish to commence, develop and/or upskill their career in Digital Marketing; it offers a unique opportunity to learn in a practical, supportive environment while simultaneously working towards a recognised Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) Major Level 6 Award. Successful graduates can further their careers within the Digital Marketing sector and/or progress to further studies in higher education.
On completion of this programme, the learner (apprentice) will be able to …
1. Demonstrate broad and specialised knowledge and theory across various digital disciplines required by a digital marketing associate in the public or private sector.
2. Apply a comprehensive understanding of the key digital marketing and media concepts, regulations, tools, abstract models and emerging technologies and how they are utilised by a digital marketing associate.
3. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of macro and micro environmental
considerations through membership of a multidisciplinary digital community of practice.
4. Apply a comprehensive range of specialised skills in a digital marketing and media environment.
5. Examine how compliance with legal and ethical standards affects digital
marketing strategies.
6. Communicate complex or technical information effectively to stakeholders in diverse settings.
7. Exercise independence and professional acumen in the completion of a wide range of work and learning activities in a digital marketing and media environment.
8. Apply initiative and resourcefulness when carrying out workplace and learning tasks and achieve quality outputs with diligence and integrity.
9. Demonstrate the ability to perform effectively, exhibiting effective collaboration, growth and leadership skills
10. Exercise personal responsibility for own learning to empower the capacity and development of self and others where appropriate.
11. Demonstrate an awareness of the responsibilities encompassed within the role of the digital marketing and associate, considering its personal, professional, inclusive, societal, and environmental impact

Entry Requirements
Entry Requirements
• Must be employed by a SOLAS ‘Approved Employer’ and registered as an
apprentice.
• Must have Grade O6/H7 or above in 5 Leaving Certificate subjects (including
Maths F2/06/H7 and English 06/H7) or a full QQI Level 5 or higher
qualification
• International applicants must present the equivalent of a full Level 5
qualification or higher.
• English is the language of tuition and assessment. Learners for whom English
is not a first language must demonstrate proficiency in English. Applicants
must achieve a minimum of a grade B2 CEFR or recognised equivalent
• Non-EU applicants are subject to work permit regulations
• Non-Standard Applicants aged 21 years and over without a Level 5
qualification will also be considered for access via Recognition of Prior
Learning following an interview with the National Programme Manager (on
behalf of the CSG) and submission of relevant documentation

Skills & Qualities
Creative people are drawn to careers and activities that enable them to take responsibility for the design, layout or sensory impact of something (visual, auditory etc). They may be atrracted to the traditional artistic pursuits such as painting, sculpture, singing, or music. - Design complex graphics and animation, using independent judgment, creativity, and computer equipment.
- Create basic designs, drawings, and illustrations for product labels, cartons, direct mail, or television.
- Participate in design and production of multimedia campaigns, handling budgeting and scheduling, and assisting with such responsibilities as production coordination, background design, and progress tracking.
- Create two-dimensional and three-dimensional images depicting objects in motion or illustrating a process, using computer animation or modeling programs.
- Make objects or characters appear lifelike by manipulating light, color, texture, shadow, and transparency, or manipulating static images to give the illusion of motion.
- Apply story development, directing, cinematography, and editing to animation to create storyboards that show the flow of the animation and map out key scenes and characters.
- Implement and maintain configuration control systems.
- Script, plan, and create animated narrative sequences under tight deadlines, using computer software and hand drawing techniques.
- Develop briefings, brochures, multimedia presentations, web pages, promotional products, technical illustrations, and computer artwork for use in products, technical manuals, literature, newsletters, and slide shows.
- Create and install special effects as required by the script, mixing chemicals and fabricating needed parts from wood, metal, plaster, and clay.
