What did you study in college?
B.E in Information Technology and MSc in Applied Computing.
With this Graduate Programme are you now working in the industry of your choice?
I didn’t want to work for IT even though I come from that background. Hence, I applied for consulting, but I was put into IT based on my qualification. Initially, I was unhappy with my designation, but I was asked to give it a try and Deloitte gave me sufficient time and resources to work on myself. Also, the projects were challenging enough and I was motivated to work under technology. Now, I love my job and in the future I want to be an SME (Subject Matter Expert).
What were your first impressions and how easy did you find it to become integrated at Deloitte?
First impression – ‘I was very much delighted to be Deloitted’. The ecosystem is incredible: very easy going and a friendly environment. I was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism and enthusiasm within the firm. This helped me integrate and adapt quickly to Deloitte’s work environment.
Can you describe a typical day in your role?
In a typical day, I fulfil my project objectives of developing and improving. Throughout the day, I complete various support tasks such as answering queries from business users, live issue resolution and I also provide knowledge transfer to team members.
Have you ever felt daunted by the level of responsibility presented to you while working in Deloitte? If not, why do you think that is?
I have never felt daunted by the nature of work that I have been entrusted with. Furthermore, my colleagues are extremely supportive and helped with me any doubts that I might have had.
What do you feel makes a good leader in Deloitte?
Self-confidence to lead a team and motivate team members and self-awareness to recognise and accept mistakes.
What is the social life like while working at Deloitte?
A number of events are organised throughout the year like the Christmas party, team events, volunteering etc. which allows to you to meet and interact with people from across the service lines and departments. There are frequent get togethers, specifically for graduates, which helps build relationship with colleagues.
Do you feel you have managed to achieve a good work-life balance within Deloitte and if so, what steps have you taken in achieving that?
I try to prioritise tasks, this has helped me to have a good work-life balance.
