The July Jobs Stimulus package recently announced by the Government included provision for the introduction of a new Apprenticeship Incentivisation Scheme for companies to take on apprentices this year.
ATI’s national accountancy apprenticeship programme has a high range of exciting companies in practice, industry and public sector offering bright job opportunities for the September Intake 2020.
ATI encourage those interested to submit an online application as soon as possible to increase chances of attaining a place for this year’s programme.
Leaving Certificate students, school leavers and career changers can now apply for the programme through Accounting Technicians Ireland website here
The Accounting Technicians Ireland apprenticeship provides a real alternative for Leaving Certificate students who prefer practical training to a full-time college programme, or for students who may have embarked on a college course and found it didn’t suit them. It is also an attractive option for existing employees and mature learners who would like to pursue a career in accounting.
The programme sees Accounting Technician apprentices work in the office four days a week and study in a local college on the other day during the two-year apprenticeship.
Successful graduates may then progress on to full accountancy with Chartered Accountants Ireland or one of the other professional accountancy bodies.
Conor Farrell (18) recently completed his year one exams of his Accounting Technicians Ireland apprenticeship with Arthur Cox.
“What really attracted me to the Accounting Technician Apprenticeship programme was the on the job experience in Accounting you get which is not available through any other programme I could find. Progressing through school I always learned more when actively doing something rather than studying alone. The Accounting Technician programme provides this with four days a week on the job training and one day in college. I find the college side of things is a lot more interesting and beneficial as I can take what I’ve learned in college straight into my position in work. The work experience adds a huge advantage to your career as you will have more experience after two years than you would have after three or four years study in a full time college. I am working in the accounts department of one of the largest law firms in Ireland, I feel this was the perfect job for me as I have an interest in law as well as accounting so it is the perfect environment for me to be in. Usually I assist in one of our teams such as billing, receivables, credit control, payable etc. for a couple of weeks and then move onto another area giving me a full range of experience.” said Conor.
