Dundalk IT Culinary Arts student excels in UK Craft Guild of Chefs Awards

Cloe Walsh, a 2nd year student in Culinary Arts at Dundalk Institute of Technology, has been shortlisted as a semi-finalist in the extremely prestigious UK Craft Guild of Chefs Graduate Awards which are due to take place in both London and Sheffield next month. The impressive achievement in competing for one of the most prestigious awards in Europe comes soon after her silver medal performance in the Knorr® Student Chef of the Year 2022 earlier this year.

At present, Cloe is on work placement until September in the 2AA Rosette award-winning Snaffles Restaurant in the distinguished Castle Leslie in Monaghan. During her time working there, Cloe has been hugely supported by her Head Chef for the shortlisting process for this award.

The Craft Guild of Chefs revealed the 37 semi-finalists for the Graduate Awards, with Cloe due to compete in the London kitchen. The budding professional chefs will put their culinary skills and knowledge to the test in the semi-finals by taking on both theoretical and practical exams during the day. These Awards offer chefs aged under 25 the chance to improve their culinary skills, build confidence, network with industry peers and the opportunity to put themselves into the national spotlight. Graduate Awards achievers have gone on to win competitions such as Young and Senior National Chef of the Year, secure exciting promotions, and gain Michelin stars of their own.

Best of luck in the semi-finals Cloe!
