Enrol now for Fishing Vessel Engineering Course – No Points Needed!

BIM recently redesigned their Engineering Courses and, following validation from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), the courses will now lead to two new awards on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). These qualifications are transferrable and recognised internationally, a crucial part of career progression for participants.

The new awards are Certificate in Fishing Vessel Engineering Skills & Certificate in Marine Engineering Processes and Operations. The programmes join other BIM courses on the National Framework, including Commercial Scuba diving, Surface Supply Diving and Fishmonger Skills. As a QQI approved training provider, learners can be assured that quality systems are in place to ensure courses are delivered to the highest professional standards, leading to accredited qualifications.

The Certificate in Fishing Vessel Engineering Skills will commence in October and consists of four modules which have been tailored to specifically meet the needs of a fishing vessel engineer. The programme meets the initial training required for a Class 3 Engineering (fishing) Certificate in Competency (CoC). From here students can progress to Class 2 and Class 1, potentially leading to the rank of Chief Engineer. Those that do not wish to pursue a career at sea can chose to progress their career ashore in the marine engineering services sector.

A shorter, stand-alone module has also been introduced which will lead to a Certificate in Marine Engineering Processes and Operations.
