Workplace commisions

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) is an Office of the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment. The WRC promotes good practice in the workplace by assisting and advising on all aspects of industrial and employment relations. The Information, Inspection and Enforcement Division of the WRC is responsible for monitoring and enforcing compliance by employers with obligations under certain employment law statutes and employment permits legislation.

There are currently a number of vacancies for the role of Inspector (Executive Officer level) in the WRC’s regional Information, Inspection and Enforcement offices in Carlow Town, Cork City, Dublin City, Ennis and Sligo Town.

Inspectors carry out inspections of employers’ employment records and make associated enquiries (including carrying out interviews with both employers and employees) insofar as employment law and employment permits legislation are concerned.

Applicants who are successful in this competition will be placed on a panel, in an order of merit to fill current and future vacancies that may arise.

A diplomatic officer can expect to work at headquarters in Dublin or Limerick, as well as at a number of Irish embassies, consulates and multilateral missions abroad. Serving in missions abroad is an integral part of the work of a Third Secretary in the Department of Foreign Affairs. 

Applicants must, on or before the closing date of 8th August 2024, hold a first or second class honours degree (minimum of Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications) or have qualified as a Solicitor or as a Barrister.
