The Irish Olympians representing our country have been an inspiration to all ages. There are 143 athletes representing Ireland across 21 sports (source: Olympics.ie). To date, Team Ireland have celebrated a fantastic seven medals in four sports! Each medal winner has given incredibly heartwarming and inspiring interviews while Ireland has watched with pride.
Did you know, if you are exceptional in any sporting activity you could be eligible for a sports scholarship to financially support you through college?
There are up to 39 sports scholarships on the CareersPortal Scholarship Explorer. You could be an Olympian representing Ireland in LA 2028!

- Bank of Ireland GAA High Performance Programme
Assists players to maximise their potential as sports people and students and to represent UL GAA, their clubs and counties at the highest level. The sports Scholarship applications close on March 3rd. The GAA bursaries don’t open until the students are in college.

- Emerging Talent Sport Scholarship
Individuals who demonstrate that they have the potential to excel in their chosen discipline. The recipient will receive support services to support them in their academic studies and athletic performance. The recipient also can be awarded a financial bursary within the same academic year because of high excellent performances for SETU Waterford subject to review by the scholarship committee.
The scholarship is primarily for 1 year, but students can remain on the programme for a second year if the committee feels they have potential to make the progression to the next level.

- MTU Sports Scholarship
To underline its commitment to Sport, MTU annually awards Sports Scholarships to a wide range of sports for Seniors and First years (Freshers). The Sport Scholarships range in value from €500 to €1,250. It is expected that those awarded the Scholarship will have high levels of achievement in their chosen sport and a full involvement and participation in this sport at the Institute.
