UNIFIL
Tánaiste and Minister for Defence, Mr Simon Harris T.D. visited UNP 2-45 last week and the Defence Forces Audio Visual team was there to capture the visit.
1 Cn Cois
1 Cn Cois has deployed two (2) four (4) person teams (main image) to participate in the US hosted International Armed Forces Skill at Arms (AFSAM) competition in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA, which takes place from 31 MAR - 12 APR 2025. Throughout the two (2) weeks, the teams will compete in multiple team and individual disciplines of shooting, with their personal issued Steyr AUGs and HK USPs, by both day and night.
The teams have trained hard for AFSAM 25 - we wish them the very best of luck.
Naval Service
The Navy's primary mission is to deploy naval ships at sea to defend and secure Ireland's interests in the maritime domain. Here are some recent photos showcasing a busy fleet conducting maritime defence and Security Operations within the Irish EEZ. LÉ AOIBHINN carried out helicopter operations with the Irish Coastguard as part of routine Search and Rescue (SAR) support. These exercises reinforce the strong collaboration between our organisations, ensuring effective SAR operations when needed.
Meanwhile, LÉ SAMUEL BECKETT recently hosted a FORST team for a series of training exercises designed to enhance the ship's operational readiness. The Fleet Operational Readiness, Standards, and Training (FORST) Section, part of Naval Operations Command, is responsible for maintaining the highest operational standards across all disciplines within the fleet.

Direct Entry Motor Technician Fitters
The Defence Forces are now accepting applications for Motor Technician Fitters, suitably qualified candidates must hold FAS/SOLAS or equivalent qualification in one of the following:
Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Motor Mechanic, Construction plant Fitter, Agricultural Mechanics.
HETAC L7 Agricultural Mechanisation. Applicants must be 18 years and less than 29 years of age on date of application.
