Naval Service

The crew of LÉ SAMUEL BECKETT was recently trained in Marine Interdiction Operations (MIO). These vital skills are practiced regularly within the Fleet and ashore to ensure our personnel are ready to respond to any threat they may encounter while boarding vessels of interest. MIO teams on naval ships are a vital cog in the Irish Navy's at-sea deterrent to illegal activity.

Joint Induction Training Centre

During Range Practice Week, the 4th and 5th Platoons had the opportunity to practice the marksmanship principles they’ve been learning in the classroom over the past few weeks. This hands-on training allowed them to apply their skills in a live-fire setting, reinforcing their understanding of safety, accuracy, and weapon handling.

Recently, our Pilatus aircraft crew transported a 2-year-old patient from Casement Aerodrome to the UK for urgent medical care. A family member and specialist medical team accompanied the patient during the flight to ensure continuous support.

Our thoughts are with the young patient and their family for a smooth recovery.
