Job Title: Apprentice Electrician

Reporting To: Maintenance Manager
Role Summary:

We are looking to recruit an Apprentice Electrician to work as part of the team at our Kilbeggan production facility in Co. Westmeath.
The Apprentice will be trained in all aspects of the Electrical apprenticeship program. The apprenticeship consists of 7 phases: 3 off-the-job and 4 on-the-job. SOLAS and the Department of Education and Science have responsibility for providing the off-the-job training, whilst your on-the job training will take place on site with the Dawn Kilbeggan Maintenance team.
Responsibilities
Successful Candidates should have the following:
- An interest in electrical & mechanical installations
- A Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification to include a maths and a science or engineering subject as a minimum.
- Previous work experience or completion of a pre-apprenticeship course would be viewed as an advantage.
- Strong technical aptitude.
- Ability to work as part of a successful team.
- Ability to follow maintenance planning.
- Ability to meet targets and project deadlines.
Qualifications
Your role will see you tackle a wide range of business challenges in a busy Maintenance/Engineering environment.
The ideal Candidate will have or demonstrate:
- Grade D in five subjects in the Department of Education & Skills Junior Certificate Examination or an approved equivalent,
Or
- The successful completion of an approved Pre-Apprenticeship course
Or
- Three years’ work experience gained over sixteen years of age in a relevant designated industrial activity as SOLAS shall deem acceptable
- Previous experience of the following subjects would be an advantage but not essential: Mathematics, Technology, Technical Drawing/Graphics, Physics and Construction Studies

Role Summary:
Dawn Meats are looking to recruit a Logistics Associate Apprentice to join our team in Carrolls Cross Co. Waterford. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidates to develop a career progressing to a management position in supply chain, operations, logistics, ware house, process engineering or planning.
You will gain a Third Level apprenticeship qualification, experience with on-the-job training and the opportunity to earn while you learn.
Dawn Meats will pay your salary while you are being trained on-the-job and attend college off the job, and there are incremental salary increases aligned to achievement of agreed milestones within the programme.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be based at one of our production facilities and will:
- Develop productive working relationships with relevant stakeholders and departments within the business – this will include Commercial, Operations, Supply Chain, Despatch, Stores, Planning and Accounts - to ensure that the output and delivery of products are as per customer specifications.
- Assist with the daily planning of food production, customer supply and movement of goods throughout Ireland, UK, and Europe;
- Liaise with all areas of Management across our sites and the Group to create a good working relationship.
- Gain a full understanding of all relevant roles and processes with Operations and Production gaining experiential on the job learning.
- Assist the Management where necessary and taking on management responsibilities providing support and acting as a point of contact where appropriate.
- Work with Site Management to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
Qualifications
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent organisation skills and time management.
- Ability to take ownership of queries/issues, bringing them to a successful conclusion;
- Enthusiastic attitude to the challenge of the role with a positive can-do approach to tasks.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision;
- Candidate must be able to work with others in cross-functional role & environment;
- Good IT Skills.
Applicant must meet one of the LAA programme entry criteria:
- H7/O6 or above in five leaving certificate (or equivalent) subjects. A minimum of grade O6 must be obtained in English. A minimum of grade O6 or a B2 or above in Foundation level must be obtained in mathematics
- Holders of a QQI Level 5 or Level 6 (or equivalent) in cognate areas (e.g., business, logistics, and distribution, supply chain management, etc)
- Applicants may also be eligible to become apprentices via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
