Chief of Staff of Óglaigh na hÉireann

The Transfer of Appointment (TOA) ceremony for the Chief of Staff of Óglaigh na hÉireann took place at McKee Barracks, marking the handover from Lieutenant General Seán Clancy to Brigadier General Rossa Mulcahy. The transition was carried out with the approval of the Government and was officiated by the Tánaiste and Minister for Defence, Simon Harris.

7th Infantry Battalion

Congratulations to members of the 7 Inf Bn who graduated from the City of Dublin FET College, Rathmines College. 14 members of the battalion graduated in the Mansion House with two QQI Level 5 awards in Communications and Personal & Professional Development from the Skills for Work Course.

Defence Forces Dive Group

Members of the Defence Forces Dive Group participate in helicasting training drills with an Irish Air Corps AW139. This demanding drill involves jumping from a low-hovering aircraft into water, simulating rapid insertion into maritime environments. It enhances coordination between the Dive Group and Air Corps, building critical skills for real-life missions such as search and rescue.

126th Infantry Battalion

On Thursday, 5th June, the 126 Inf Bn Engineers conducted a Clearance Patrol on the perimeter of Camp Shamrock UNP 2-45. This operation ensures a safe and secure environment for all IRISHPOLBATT personnel.

Direct Entry Motor Technician Fitters

The Defence Forces are now accepting applications for Motor Technician Fitters, suitably qualified candidates must hold FAS/SOLAS or equivalent qualification in one of the following:

Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Motor Mechanic, Construction plant Fitter, Agricultural Mechanics.

HETAC L7 Agricultural Mechanisation. Applicants must be 18 years and less than 29 years of age on date of application.
