About Us

Ballsbridge College of Further Education is a long-established State-owned College situated in the suburb of Ballsbridge just two kilometres from Dublin city centre. Located at the heart of the business community, the College is easily accessible by public transport including Dublin’s light rail system, the DART.

Ballsbridge College is open and welcoming and each year we have an energetic and enthusiastic group of students. If you are a school leaver, an adult returning to education or an international student in Ireland, there is a course in the college to suit you.

Progression Routes

Graduates of our QQI Level 5 and Level 6 are very successful at gaining entry to level 6, 7 and 8 courses in institutes of technology and universities through the Higher Education Link Scheme. We have opened up other progression routes for our students through our partnerships with third level institutions.

Unique Courses

Ballsbridge College offers a wide range of PLC programmes, some of which are exclusive to the College. We have built a strong reputation over the years for developing and delivering innovative programmes at both Level 5 and 6.  We have a range of courses on offer in the areas of Business, Social & Community Studies, Computing & Multimedia, Education & Training, English and Property. 

Here at Ballsbridge College of FE we also offer the Auctioneering and Property Services Apprenticeship, Level 6 programme. This apprenticeship, launched in 2018 is a new pathway to a career in Auctioneering, Estate Agency, Property Management and Property Letting, where apprentices are mentored by industry through a two-year, work based learning programme.

Ballsbridge College has a long established reputation as a provider of quality PLC and FET programmes. The College has developed close links with employers, Higher Education Institutes and professional bodies to offer employment opportunities and progression routes to our graduates.   

Location

The college is a small friendly place in Ballsbridge, only 2kms from  Dublin city centre.  We are well served by bus, DART, and LUAS connections. 

Erasmus+

The college has developed a very successful Erasmus+ programme which provides students with the opportunity to gain work experience in The Netherlands or Germany. Students also have the opportunity to apply for an exciting entrepreneurship internship programme in Spain.

We have a strong and active student council and Green-Campus Committee.

Clubs & Societies

The Students Council comprising of representatives from all classes who are elected by the students make a valuable contribution to Ballsbridge College life.  Two members are elected annually to the College’s Board of Management. The Student Council organises student social events throughout the year.  

The success of the College’s Green Campus Committee in achieving and maintaining Green Campus status for the College is attributable to the hard work and commitment of its student members        

Students can also take extra- curricular classes in entrepreneurial skills and Chinese language (Mandarin).

 

Information Technology

The College has seven IT rooms and a College library with access to IT. We offer free WIFI throughout the building.

Sports & Fitness

Ballsbridge College students have access to free gym and swimming facilities, tennis courts, and football pitches. The College’s Sport and Cultural Co-ordinator facilitates student participation in ETB-wide sport and cultural activities and events throughout the year. 

 

Fees and Grants

For 2023/24 the standard charge is €240. The €240 charge covers a number of costs including certification and exam entry.

There are also student financial supports available for eligible students such as BTEA Allowance and VTOS for students in receipt of a DEASP payment and the SUSI grant scheme. Eligibility for the SUSI grant scheme depends on individual financial circumstances and a grant must be applied for, through Student Universal Service Ireland (SUSI), see www.susi.ie.

Student Supports

Ballsbridge College offers experienced teaching staff, dedicated course tutors and allocated tutorial time. Students can access programme specific resources and study material on the college’s Virtual Learning Environment, Moodle.

Study support sessions are available to students as well as other educational supports. Student Welfare supports offered in the college include disability supports and reasonable accommodations for examinations.

The Guidance Counsellor is available to discuss all aspects of course work and to assist in future career decisions. Personal counselling is available including referrals to specialised counselling services as relevant.
