About Us

Whitehall College of Further Education offer day courses to school leavers and mature students. The courses run for approximately 9 months; this facilitates the development of good practical skills, personal development and depth of learning. The majority of courses at Whitehall College offer the learner the opportunity to achieve a major QQI award at level 5 or level 6.

Whitehall College of Further Education is situated at Colaiste Caoimhin, on Mobhi Road in Glasnevin, it offers:

  • A single campus location boasting top class facilities in a stunning setting.
  • Friendly, open and supportive learning environment.
  • Mature students are welcome on all courses.
  • Adaptability of courses

  • Progression links to third level courses
  • Work Placement relevant to their course discipline ranging from 2-6 weeks.

Further education is a stepping stone. It can be a stepping stone to first time employment or back to employment. For all it is a confidence building year; for many it is a pre-university year - it introduces learners to an area they may wish to progress to at higher education and offers a chance to develop practical skills that will stand to them in the future no matter what the next step is. Skills and education obtained at Further Education offer learners increased choices and improve their employability.

Whether your next step is progression to third level or employment we offer a wide range a courses that offer opportunities for both.  Learning at Whitehall College is an opportunity to learn with our experienced and dedicated teaching staff who have developed our courses to meet needs of industry and higher education links. Courses on offer range for QQI level 3 to 6.

Work Experience

Our Level 5 and Level 6 QQI Certified courses offer the opportunity of work experience as part of the learning programme. This includes preparation in applying for jobs, CV preparation, job finding skills and interview skills.

Whitehall College is well known with employers for the provision of skilled graduates in the areas of office and health administration, IT, business, health care and childcare.  Year after year employers contact the College with vacancies they are hoping to fill.  We offer a personal link between graduates and prospective employers.

Building/Location

Our building stands in its own grounds on Mobhi Road, Glasnevin overlooking Griffith Park in the largely residential area of Glasnevin. The College building has a long history with education, originally built as a teacher training College in 1908.

Facilities

We boast a large student canteen that offers snacks, sandwiches and hot and cold meal options. We have a large computer library with supervised study area for use between timetabled classes. 

Information Technology

The College has Wi-Fi and all our computer rooms offer the latest in IT software and hardware.

Sports & Fitness

Each year the opportunity is given to students to take part in CDETB Sports and Cultural events. To date College students have welcomed this opportunity and have been very successful with a College Soccer team, Public Speaking and Art Competitions.

Fees and Grants

The College is an approved college for Post-Leaving Certificate (PLC) Maintenance Grants.

Student Supports

Whitehall College offers a professional Career Guidance and Counselling service to all students.  It is a confidential service, aiming to help each student to get the most from their time in the college

Learning/ Disability Support : The aim of this service is to support individual students or groups of students to maximise their learning experiences. Information, advice and guidance on learning are provided to students. The Service makes arrangements for educational psychological assessments, assistive technology and assessment of needs.

The College is well serviced with bus routes from the City Centre to Glasnevin and nearby Drumcondra. Drumcondra train station is a short walk away.
