Hosted by the industry’s biggest artists and most respected professionals, our regular masterclasses are a great opportunity to pick up insider knowledge and fill your contacts book, as you network with A-list musicians, songwriters, label executives, A&Rs and booking agents. Live music is a vital part of the modern industry, so don’t expect your life at BIMM to be spent snoozing in a classroom. Instead, your course will take you to the heart of the city’s local scene, where you’ll sharpen your live chops and business acumen as you play, stage and promote regular gigs. You’ll also help to run BIMM’s end-of-term gigs, showcasing our musicians, bands and songwriters at events across the city.
All of our tutors are experienced music industry professionals. Their expertise range from songwriting and performance to music production, publishing and all things music business related. Our faculty includes active members on the Irish and international music scenes such as Rory Doyle (Hozier), Ro Yourell (Delorentos), Danny Snow (Villagers) Cormac Curran, (Hozier, Villagers, Lisa Hannigan, John Grant), Alan Duggan (Girlband), Louise MacNamara (Heathers) and music managers Michael Roe (All Tvvins) and Jim Lawless (The Coronas).

BIMM Institute Dublin programmes enhances student employability prospects in a variety of areas in the music and creative industries including the following: commercial band performance, live session playing, playing on recording sessions, band management, music journalism, live TV and radio broadcasting, tour management, stage management, film, game and multimedia licensing and music composition, performing in both wedding and cover function bands, musical theatre, working in a variety of roles in music venues, event promotion, Artiste and Repertoire and record labels, working in live music agencies and teaching music.
Alongside lessons we run clubs, such as Keyboard Club and Business Club. We offer to unlimited career tutorials, so you can discuss your future music industry goals and pastoral meetings with our dedicated Student Services team to help you deal with any personal issued whilst you’re studying.
BA (HONS) IN COMMERCIAL MODERN MUSIC
This course is part of the Free Fees Scheme, so if you’re eligible, you’ll only have to pay the student contribution fee which is currently €3,000. To check if you are, take a look at the Student Finance website. Detailed information on fees is available from the Registration Office at DIT.

With this in mind, the Student Services team is available at every step of the student journey to offer confidential support and guidance on issues such as stress, alcohol and drugs, disability and learning support, family/friends/relationship problems, sexual health, eating disorders, depression and anxiety issues; as well as on-going academic and practical learning support and advice. BIMM Institute Dublin is situated in the heart of Dublin’s Liberties and operates out of two campuses, Francis St and the Coombe, a short 15-minute walk from Dublin City Centre.

BIKE/WALK
Dublin’s centre is compact and easily walkable and good for cycling. Dublin Bikes is the bike sharing scheme for Dublin city. The stations are distributed throughout the city centre to enable easy access and optimal use. More info can be found at Dublin Bikes website.

BIMM Institute Dublin’s Francis Street and Coombe buildings are well serviced by buses from all over the city. There are bus stops on Patrick Street, Thomas Street and Cork Street that are just a stone’s throw away from BIMM Institute Dublin.
