ATU Sligo and ATU St Angelas Open Days, Your Future is Here
Atlantic Technological University (ATU) Open Days continue in November with ATU Sligo and ATU St Angelas welcoming prospective students to their Open Days on Friday 8th and Saturday 9th November, from 10am-1pm each day.
This two-day event, which mainly takes place on the ATU Sligo Campus, is an important event in the academic calendar and presents an opportunity for visitors to discover the wide range of programme options available in both Sligo-based campuses.
As students start to consider their university choices, the Open Day events provide an opportunity to connect with academic staff across both campuses in the areas of Business and Social Sciences, Engineering and Design; Science; Education, Home Economics; Food Business and Nursing. Student Support Services will also be on hand to offer helpful advice and answer questions relating to admissions, fees and funding, optional pathways, students support, disability and learning support, Erasmus+ opportunities and much more!
ATU Accounting student, Joy Sabellano, attended the Sligo campus Open Day when she was making her CAO choices, and found the overall experience helpful and useful when it came to deciding her future study options. Joy commented, “Attending the Open Day was so positive for me. Getting the chance to connect with students from the programme and connect in-person with the lecturers helped with my own decision making and planning. Getting the chance to explore the campus facilities and meeting with student ambassadors gave me a sense of the university community, and I really liked the feeling I got when I visited the campus.”
ATU Open Days showcase the social aspects of university life, with clubs, societies, and student events on display, you get a sense of the culture at ATU and see if it feels like the right fit for you. During the Open Days student ambassadors will provide guided campus tours. Staff and students from both campuses will be available to engage with guests on the ATU Sligo campus each day, with a free shuttle bus in operation to facilitate campus tours of the St Angelas campus over both days. An additional shuttle bus will tour the purpose-built student villages which surround ATU Sligo’s campus as well as the impressive new Yeats Academy of Arts, Design and Architecture (YAADA) facility.
Students from across Ireland are choosing to study at ATU Sligo and ATU St Angelas, Jesus Quaye Saya, a fourth year Marketing student at ATU Sligo commented, “I’m from Clare, people often ask why I didn’t choose a university closer to home, however, I felt that Sligo was the best place for me as it still felt like home. I knew I was entering a new chapter in my life and wanted to start it by gaining a sense of independence. Sligo has so much to offer! The people here are exceptionally friendly—there’s always someone on the street who will say hi or give you a wave. My advice to anyone considering Sligo is to definitely give it a shot. There’s a wide range of things to do, and with such a welcoming community, you’ll have no trouble meeting people you connect with.”
During the Open Day events, visitors to the campuses can collect a ‘Sligo Discount Sheet’ that will allow a discount of up to 15% at various coffee shops, restaurants and clothes shops in Sligo, Strandhill and Rosses Point.
