On Saturday, 22 April (MIC Thurles) Mary Immaculate College will welcome prospective students, their parents and guidance counsellors to its campuses for the College’s Student Experience Days.  

 

According to Dr Patrick Cosgrove, Student Recruitment Officer: "These events are the perfect opportunity to get your questions about college answered by those who know best – current college students - and to experience, first hand, what college life is all about. These are must attend events for CAO applicants, fifth year, transition year and mature students.  Come along to learn about MIC’s leading undergraduate degree programmes, student supports & services, clubs & societies and the student scene in both Limerick and Thurles."

 

For those interested in post-primary teaching the MIC Thurles event on Saturday, 22 of April (10am-3pm) is definitely one for the diary. As well as opportunities to engage with current students, there will be an opportunity to learn more about Home Economics, Mathematics, Accounting, Business Studies, Religious Studies, and Gaeilge– the six subjects currently offered at MIC Thurles. While a concurrent session for parents on what to expect of the transition to third-level will also take place.  

 

According to Dr Finn Ó Murchú, Head of School of Education (Post-Primary) at MIC Thurles: "We are delighted to host our Student Experience Day, which allows prospective students to learn more about our seven post-primary teacher preparation programmes. All visitors will get a chance to meet staff and students, tour the campus and ask their questions in a welcoming and relaxed environment. Of note this year is the introduction of our new programme, BA in Education, Home Economics and Business Studies. While limited in places this programme, along with all programmes, will be explained in detail and allow all future students make a more informed decision about their bright future and the role our College may play."
