Led by NCAD’s Katie Hanlan, this panel brings together graduating Knit and Constructed Textiles students to discuss the enduring value of handcrafting skills and heritage techniques in contemporary textile practice. From traditional methods passed through generations to innovative reinterpretations of craft, the discussion will explore how tactile knowledge, slow processes, and material storytelling shape their work and contribute to a sustainable, meaningful design future.

Join NCAD Fashion Lecturer Natalie B Coleman and graduating fashion students, Tadhg Geraghty, Ulvivye Jarral , Theodore Coonan and Aisling Ryan for a dynamic panel exploring how identity, diversity, and gender shaped and influenced their creative research and final collections. This discussion will highlight personal narratives, cultural intersections, and the role of fashion as a powerful medium for self-expression, social commentary, and inclusive design.

This panel discussion invites audiences into a vibrant conversation on the creative power of the historical archive in contemporary fashion and visual culture. Hosted by two NCAD faculty members, Linda Byrne and Hliary O’Kelly the event features 2nd-year students who will share insights from their work on the Constructive Copying project, reflecting on how archival garments and techniques have shaped their design thinking. They will be joined by two graduating students—who have drawn extensively from archival material in developing their final collections. Together, the group will explore how memory, materiality, and visual reference from the past continue to inform and challenge modern aesthetic practices. The session will conclude with an open Q&A to spark cross-disciplinary engagement and discussion.
