The UL Cybercamp was designed to introduce second level students to some ICT basics. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, we've moved our camp online to create the ULCCO. Here students will be shown key elements of a modern ICT course and will learn skills useful in any future career in ICT such as:
Web design - build and format simple webpages
Java programming - develop a simple one-person game
Processing - work with images and sounds
Each camp has three streams that students can access: the Web Design stream, the Greenfoot stream, and the Processing stream.
Students can access one or more of the streams as they wish. Each camp runs over two weeks with online content available to teach the basics, forums to ask questions and get answers, and a live session in the second week to cement understanding and give some additional content. The students will be asked to work on a small project to further embed their knowledge and understanding.
On the last day of the camp, we will run a Showcase day, where the students can show each other their finished projects and staff from the two main ICT departments in UL will come take a look at what the students have accomplished and offer feedback and guidance. They will also offer information on ICT courses available in UL that the students may wish to undertake.
Dates, Pricing, & Bookings
The camp is completely free to attend thanks to funding from the Higher Education Authority's Summer Camp funding. The only costs are the time taken to go through the content and attend the Live Sessions. We have three camps running over the summer, with spaces limited to 40 on each to maximise the attention each student can be given. The dates are:

A schedule of events will be sent to you along with information on how to join our online portal on successful sign-up.
To allow as many children as possible to enjoy the ULCCO, we ask that you limit to one camp per child.
