Tourism and Event Management (AU905) is an exciting 3 year course at ATU Sligo which is linked to the Tourism and Hospitality sector. Having completed this course, you can be involved in the organisation and running of promotional, corporate and social events. It is a really social work environment and gives you the opportunity to not only travel internationally but also to utilise your creativity.

What Level is this course?

This course is at NFQ Level 8.

Students can enter AU803 which is International Tourism and Event management, which is a level 7 course, and which allows them to study a language and then progress if they wish to the Level 8-degree AU905.

Some of the modules you will undertake throughout this three year course include:

-        Event Management

-        Tourism and Travel Industry

-        Business Management

-        Sustainable Managing of the Impacts of Tourism.

-        Global Tourism

-        Language Elective

 

What are the Entry Requirements?

As of 2022 the points for this course are currently at 309. Applications will need a minimum of 2 H5’s and O6’s/H7’s for entry into this course.

Applicants must have received a minimum of 06/H7 in English or Irish and F2/O6/H7 in Maths.

QQI Major Awards are accepted as entries into this course, however PLC / FET applicants must receive 3 distinctions and a pass in C20139 or 5N1833 or C20174 or C20175 or 5N2066 or 5N18396 or LCE Maths.

 

Is it possible to study a language with this course?

The language options available to study as part of this course are the following:

-        French

-        German

-        Spanish

However, students will only have languages as an elective in their final year to allow Level 7 students to continue with languages if they wish.
