DCU wins Law School of the Year!

Posted on November 9, 2021

Students looking to study law need look no further than DCU because the School of Law and Government at DCU has been voted Law School of the Year at this year’s Irish Law Awards.

The Law School of the Year Award celebrates a law school in Ireland that is regarded by the judges as having demonstrated a significant degree of excellence in the teaching of the law.

For a School that is less than 20 years old, it's an outstanding achievement to be recognised in this way. The award is testament to the hard work, creativity and passion that the university’s staff and experts bring to their teaching and research in Law.

DCU’s School of Law and Government offers innovative and challenging programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. DCU students benefit from the vast expertise of the lecturers, many of whom are leading voices in the media and undertake ambitious research across a wide range of subjects in law, politics, and international relations.

Law courses at DCU:

Note: All of DCU’s undergraduate law courses allow students to study the core modules to prepare for entrance exams to the Law Society as a trainee solicitor but only the BCL degree at DCU is accredited by the King’s Inns which allows students to qualify for entrance to the Barrister-at-Law degree.

Other courses offered by DCU's School of Law and Government:

Note: The BSc in Global Challenges is a new and unique programme offered by DCU this year which integrates social science and technology studies through challenge-based learning. It is offered jointly by DCU’s School of Law and Government and the School of Electronic Engineering. Students will study modules such as climate change, politics, design thinking, international development, data analytics, public policy, artificial intelligence, security and peace studies, ethics, and sustainable design.
