So you want to be a musician?

DCU's Jazz and Contemporary Music course is the only music degree in the country specialising in improvisation and performance. So, if you’re looking to develop your career as a professional musician, this course is definitely one to mark down on your CAO application before the 1st February 2022.

So much music has its roots in Jazz and this degree enables you to play every type of music from jazz to folk music to pop music and everything in between. It will equip you with the skills to operate in a wide range of contemporary music areas, not just jazz. What also makes this degree unique, is that it allows you to study non-classical music in a conservatory environment.

The BA in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance at DCU is a four-year, full time Honours degree which trains you for life as a professional performing musician. In this course, you will learn a wide range of musical techniques including performance, producing, instrumental technique, improvisation, composition, computer music, aural training and more.

This undergraduate degree is geared towards training young musicians like you, to the highest international standards and to be fully equipped to work in the world of music both here and abroad. You will also have an opportunity to transfer to the Berklee College of Music in Boston which is one of the most prestigious music schools in the world in the field of contemporary music.
