Master of Education in Autism (MEdA) (Course Code: DC972) Two Years, Part Time, Blended

Are you a teacher working with pupils on the autism spectrum? Further your expertise with the DCU Master of Education in Autism (MEdA) which is currently accepting applications. This is a unique, part-time, two year programme focussing on the needs of educators working with autistic children and young people. The programme is specifically tailored for practising teachers at primary, secondary and special school settings.

Delivered at DCU, the world’s first Autism Friendly University, the MEdA has a unique practical focus that aims to develop graduates who are expert teacher researchers with a deep understanding of the educational needs of autistic pupils. The role of evidence informed practice in the classroom, innovative approaches to collaboration, and whole school approaches to supporting inclusion are emphasised. Learners will also master a range of relevant research methods and complete a level 9 dissertation.

Delivery of the course will comprise a blended mix of online and limited face-to-face classes on-campus that is specifically designed to be accessible to practising teachers. There are a small number of weekends (online Friday evening and face-to-face Sat) and sixteen online classes with accompanying virtual fora accessible at home per year.

There are a range of fee scholarship options available for entrants to the MEdA. These scholarships will be offered following a competitive application process. For more information regarding criteria or applying, contact the course chair, Dr. Neil Kenny.
