The DCU School of Physical Sciences welcomed 80 first year students on 12 September 2022 through a Physics General Entry route that now leads to four degree pathways - BSc Applied Physics, BSc Physics with Astronomy, BSc Physics with Biomedical Sciences and BSc Physics with Data Analytics. This is the largest intake of first year physics students in the history of the school. The popularity of our Physics General Entry route is further demonstrated by a significant increase in CAO points rising from 400 to 422.
It's not often anyone has the opportunity to be first in the world at something, but these students are indeed part of a global first, as there has never been a degree of this type before. The degree sets a new bar for chemists, giving them the cutting-edge skills and knowledge in a specialism that has until now been broadly limited to PhD students.
