Hack4Change From March 27th- 30th 2023, the DCU Social Innovation Hackathon, Hack4Change, took place in the U building. Dr Seamus McDermott Entrepreneurial Scholarship As part of the Hack4Change prize-giving ceremony, the inaugural Dr Séamus McDermott Entrepreneurial Scholarship was awarded to first-year Business student Oscar Bourke.  The Scholarship was created to promote the concepts of job creation, entrepreneurial development, and education for life in the minds of undergraduate students.

Oscar is a student of DCU’s BSc in Marketing, Innovation and Technology (MINT) who has already set up two businesses. He was selected following a competitive process and the judges were very impressed with his submission. Find out more about the DCU Business School Scholarships

DCU Dragons' Den DCU Business School final year business students entered the Dragons’ Den to pitch their New Enterprise Development ideas to 35 industry experts from across the country. Dragons including Eamonn QuinnTommy Kelly from eShopWorldStephen Nolan, CEO of NutriticsEithne McShane from Enterprise IrelandCatherine Cusack from ByrneWallace, Dan Ryan, Investor and Mentor, and Entrepreneur Liavan Mallen were on campus for the event to help our NED students hone their pitching skills. Young Academy of Ireland Announces first members Congratulations to Dr Lisa Van der Werff who has been named in the The Royal Irish Academy's new Young Academy Ireland (YAI) – a network of early career researchers and innovators (ECRIs). The YAI has been established to promote greater engagement and opportunities for ECRIs, supporting ECRIs in leadership roles, contributing to equality, diversity and inclusion, and developing networks and skills. Deloitte Student Awards

Students Alimat Balogun, Daragh Fitzpatrick, Aoibhe Lennon and Alex Byrne (BSc Accounting and Finance) were presented with an award from Deloitte for Best Student Projects on analysing a company's financial statements and performance.

Inaugural DCU Applegreen Innovation Challenge Award

Applegreen executives came to DCU Business School last week to present the inaugural DCU Applegreen Innovations Challenge Award to a group of first year students in the Learning Innovation for Enterprise (LIFE) module. Using design-thinking techniques, students were tasked with dveloping a service innovation focused on enhancing Applegreen's customer service.
