DCU Business School receives award
DCU Business School was honoured with an award for its contributions to the International Partnership of Business Schools (IPBS) Network during the network's recent meeting in Reutlingen, Germany. The award recognises DCU Business School’s 27 years of active participation in IPBS, a global network that has been at the forefront of transforming students’ lives through international business education for over 50 years. Dr Marty Reilly accepted the award on behalf of the School with the presentation made by Barry Wright, Dean of Brock University. This recognition underscores the significant role DCU Business School has played in fostering cross-border collaboration and innovation within the global business education community.

Tackling Online Hate in Football (TOHIF) Podcast Series with DCU’s Professor Theo Lynn and Dr Gary Sinclair
The TOHIF Podcast series is a crash course in the evolving problem of online hate and abuse in football. Key issues like what is, what isn't and what should be done about by authorities across social media, government and football; who and what the abuse impacts; and how it ties into other controversial issues like sportswashing and conspiracy theories. TOHIF stands for Tackling Online Hate in Football, a multi-university project conducting cutting edge research into the issue.
In Episode One Professor Theo Lynn talks about the challenges and opportunities involved in the cutting-edge data analysis of a decade and a half of football-related online hate on Twitter. Dr Gary Sinclair discusses what's been learned so far in the existing academic research into the problem, and what needs to be researched in the future. The first episode provides a grounding on what we know about online hate in football, before tackling who it targets and what issues it intersects with in later episodes. DCU Gaelic Player Association (GPA) Scholarships
We are delighted to announce that Gráinne Kenneally and Niall Moran are the recipients of our GPA Scholarships for the academic year 2024/2025. Both Grainne and Niall are undertaking the Executive MBA programme. Gráinne Kenneally is a Commandant in the Irish Defence Forces. She has a number of overseas deployments with both the United Nations (UN) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). From a sporting point of view, Gráinne has represented Waterford over the years in both ladies' Gaelic football and camogie and in more recent years represented Kildare in ladies' Gaelic football. Niall Moran has over 18 years of experience in banking and financial services, holding roles in Retail, Business, and Private banking. Over the past 10 years, he has held various roles senior management roles in the Bank of Ireland Group. In his current role as Head of Sales & Marketing for Bank of Ireland General Insurance, he leads all sales & transformation activities for the division. Niall is a Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) holder and has a Degree in Commerce from the University of Galway.
Dr Helena Kenny is the recipient of our 30% Club Scholarship as she undertakes the DCU Executive MBA programme this year. Helena graduated from DCU in 2008 with a BSc in Sport Science and Health. She then completed an MSc in Clinical Exercise Physiology at Northeastern University, Boston. Her passion for scientific research resulted in her return to DCU for a PhD in Human Physiology with Professor Donal O'Gorman funded by the European Space Agency - ESA. After graduating with a PhD from DCU in 2015, Helena then returned to live in the US and worked as a post-doctoral scholar in academic research at the University of Iowa.
Helena's current role with Bayer is at the intersection of science and business and she is passionate about scientific communication with HealthCare professionals to bring clarity around clinical data. She is responsible for stakeholder management, gathering insights and importantly contributing to the overall business strategy.

Students from the Digital Business and Innovation course launched their podcast series 'Learning Beyond Lectures: The EdTech Talks' . This will be the first student-led podcast series to run in DCU Business School and will cover a number of important topics in Technology, Innovation and Education with industry leaders and DCU thought leaders on the expert panels each week.
A huge achievement on the part of Course Chair Dr Clíona McParland, always striving to embed innovative and impactful learning pedagogies into her teaching and learning practices.

DCU Business School 2nd year students network with Industry leaders in London
A number of our Global Business 2nd Year students were selected to go on a 4-day trip to London with the Irish Student Consulting Group (ISCG) where they visited some of the world’s top consulting firms and financial institutions, including Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Simon Kucher, Deloitte, Morgan Stanley, UBS, Enterprise Ireland UK and Bloomberg.
The students found the experience highly insightful, featuring presentations, tours, interactive sessions, and invaluable networking opportunities with industry leaders in finance and consulting. They also had the chance to connect with other student groups from around Ireland. Congratulations to Carolina Mahn, Anastasia Pahlberg, Bénédict Fromholz and Robert Dürr on being selected.

DCU Business School Alumni of the Month We are pleased to announce Conor O'Boyle (DCU BA Accounting & Finance) and Shane Ennis (DCU BSc Marketing Innovation & Technology) as our Alumni of the Month for October 2024. Co-founders of Drive Inc., they have successfully led the company through significant growth since its founding in 2019, culminating in its recent acquisition by Nasdaq-listed ACV Auctions. Reflecting on their journey, both Conor and Shane highlighted the challenges and rewards of building Drive Inc., attributing their success to teamwork, innovation, and a shared vision with ACV for the future of automotive technology. Congratulations to them both on this recognition and their ongoing achievements!
