Opportunity To Complete Degree In Health And Social Care Locally At MI

Posted on May 14, 2019

Monaghan Institute, in collaboration with Letterkenny IT, have tentative plans to offer students the chance to complete a Level 7 Bachelor (Ordinary) Degree in Health and Social Care in Monaghan Institute, over two years starting in September, 2019.

Learners who have completed a further education, Level 6 award in Applied Social Studies or have built up a lot of experience in this area can apply through Letterkenny IT Direct Advanced Entry route to year two of the three-year Level 7 Health and Social Care Degree.

It is envisaged that the course will consist of three days’ work placement/employment in a relevant area and two days attendance at classes in Monaghan Institute. This will enable students who are in employment to remain working, if it is in a relevant field, while studying full time.

As well as a placement element each semester will cover a variety of modules over the two years including; Psychological Well-being & Health Promotion, Research Processes & Methods, Ageing & Caring, Disability Awareness, Methods & Approaches in Health & Social Care, Responding to Behaviours of Concern, Children & Families Support and Youth Work & Community Practice.

This is a very exciting opportunity for people interested in progressing in the area of Health and Social Care to gain a Level 7 Degree locally.

Anyone who is interested in pursuing this course should please fill in the application form before 20th May 2019, which can be found on the Letterkenny IT website here…

For any further queries please contact Dr Louise Mc Bride, Head of Department Nursing and Health Studies LYIT on 074-918 6000 or Karol Harvey, Monaghan Institute on 047-84900.
