Monaghan Institute – My Perfect Choice By Tegan McMahon
Posted on October 6, 2020
I attended the Pre-University Arts course in Monaghan Institute in 2019 because I was unsure of which degree to choose at university. I had always really wanted to be a primary school teacher but towards the end of secondary school I developed a great interest in psychology and had started to think about that as a career path. After secondary school I decided not to go directly to university as I wanted to think about what I wanted my future to look like. My decision to study in Monaghan Institute was to ensure that I made the right decisions regarding university, instead of possibly starting a course in university and not enjoying it.
Pre-University Arts helped me tremendously in making my decision as it helped to further my knowledge in many subjects. As a result, this year I will be attending DCU to study a Batchelor of Arts degree in Humanities. This degree will allow me to pursue a career in primary school teaching upon completing my Master’s degree. I am extremely excited about starting university this October and I am very thankful for my year in Monaghan Institute as it allowed me the opportunity to fully explore which path was the right one for me.
I would encourage all students to consider spending a year in Monaghan Institute, not only is it thoroughly enjoyable but also tremendously helpful when it comes to making decisions regarding future study.
