Monaghan Institute Science Learners’ Visit to the Marble Arch Caves

Posted on August 3, 2023

Monaghan Institute Science students visited The Marble Arch Caves in Fermanagh as an end of year academic trip. The group had the opportunity to see caves, sinkholes, subterranean rivers and a variety of cave formations such as stalactites, stalagmites and cascades. During the visit, learners also toured the limestone landscapes of Killykeegan National Nature Reserve, where there are examples of limestone pavement, glacial erratic’s, archaeological features, and historical farming features.

A one-year programme completing Science at Monaghan Institute opens many progression pathways into this growing and lucrative industry. We are currently recruiting for the following courses:

  • Biomedical Science (with links to PE Teaching)
  • Food Science and Nutrition
  • Science and Laboratory Techniques

Learners are introduced to the world of Science through a range of relevant modules including core subjects, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics, which provides a firm ‘Science’ foundation, placing them at a distinct advantage if progressing to university or for careers in various scientific fields.

If you are interested in studying science this September at Monaghan Institute, please see the range of courses we have on offer here. We are hosting our Open Evening on Wednesday 30th August from 4 – 7pm and our tutors and guidance staff will be present to offer you best advice and support.
