Monaghan Institute’s Erasmus Internship in the Netherlands

Posted on January 11, 2024 Learners from Monaghan Institute’s QQI Level 5 Engineering Technology, QQI Level 5 Computer Games and QQI Level 6 Software Development courses are currently preparing to complete their work experience placement in Groningen, in the Netherlands from 29th January until 9th February 2024.

This exciting opportunity is made possible through the Léargas funded Erasmus+ programme, a European funding initiative established in 1987, enabling college students to pursue studies or internships abroad. Monaghan Institute have collaborated with ROC Friese Poort, our partner college in the Netherlands, on three prior Erasmus programmes. In anticipation of their upcoming trip, participants are required to participate in team preparation activities and acquire proficiency in Dutch language skills, to ensure readiness for their travel experience.

Whilst in Groningen, our learners will engage in practical experiences with leading engineering and computer software companies. This innovative exposure will enhance their careers prospects in the rapidly evolving engineering and software development fields whether at home or internationally. It also serves as a platform to apply the engineering and coding skills acquired through the QQI certified programmes at Monaghan Institute.

It will not be soley work-focused however, as Gronnigen offers a charming University city with a cosmopolitan ambiance, featuring numerous museums, restaurants, bars, theatres and festivals. As a cultural hub in the north of the Netherlands, learners will be accompanied by Monaghan Institute Engineering and IT teachers, Matthew Ward and Ray Quinn.

This project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union
