Applications now open for all undergraduate courses
Applications for all of our Foundation Diploma in Acting and Theatre, Bachelors in Acting and Bachelors in Stage Management and Technical Theatre for the next academic year 2023/24 are now open. Applications for all of our undergraduate courses can be submitted online, via our website
Bachelor In Acting There is an intake of 16 students each year. All eligible candidates who apply before the closing date will receive an audition. The first round of auditions will be held throughout November, December, January, and February. Applicants will have the option of doing their first-round audition in person (in The Lir Academy, Dublin) or live, online (over Zoom). All times displayed on the website are Dublin time. The cost for submitting an application is €50 before Christmas and €75 following there. The Bachelor in Acting at The Lir is not part of the CAO or any points-based systems. Students are expected to have achieved the minimum matriculation requirements for Trinity College Dublin courses, however, exceptions may be made based on the demonstration of exceptional natural talent at auditions. Bachelor in Stage Management and Technical Theatre This three-year honours degree is perfect for students who are interested in a career backstage and enjoy a practice-based learning environment. Please note, that this course is not part of the CAO points system. Once you have completed the application form, our admissions manager will contact you to arrange an interview date and time within two weeks after submission. Everyone who applies for this course will be offered an interview The interview is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your passion, ability and understanding of this training and the type of work it will lead to. No experience is necessary. The Bachelor in Stage Management and Technical Theatre Degree is not part of the CAO point’s race. Join us for our undergraduate open day on Saturday 5 November. Find out more about our courses and how to apply, tour the facilities and chat with current students about studying at The Lir Academy. There will be two presentations on the day: 1.30pm - Bachelor in Stage Management and Technical Theatre As well as a detailed presentation on all that this three-year practical course has to offer, there will also be an opportunity to tour our facilities. You’ll get to visit our wood and metal workshop, scenic art workshop, costume and wardrobe room, design studio, theatres and various rehearsal spaces. Tours will be led by students who are currently studying Stage Management and Technical Theatre so you’ll have an opportunity to ask them questions about studying at The Lir Academy and what you can expect from the course. 3.00pm - Bachelor in Acting and Foundation Diploma in Acting and Theatre As well as a presentation covering all aspects of these courses, there will be an opportunity to tour the facilities. You will get to see our rehearsal spaces, dance/movement studio, theatres, design studio, costume room, green room, dressing rooms and more. Tours will be led by students studying acting so you’ll have an opportunity to talk with them about the course and studying at The Lir Academy. Our admission team will also be available to answer any questions you may have about making an application. No booking required All students and their parents are welcome to attend.

At this acting audition workshop, participants will be guided through the process of preparing for Drama School auditions, through careful selection of monologues and developing characterisation.
