AU989: Nutrition, Food and Business Management at ATU Sligo St Angela’s is a four year programme aimed at equipping students with the necessary skills to confidently work within the food industry on a national and international level.
This course will suit students with a flair for entrepreneurship and food product development. This course prepares students to create safe, nutritious foods for evolving markets and safe for human consumption. In Year 1 students are introduced to foundational modules like Food Preparation, Nutrition, Finance, Marketing, and ICT. Year 2 builds on this with Food Science, Nutrition through the Life Cycle. Within Year 3 includes a 20-week national or international placement and modules focus on Innovations in Food Processing, Marketing Research, and more.Year 4 involves teaching skills required for Food Quality Management, Biochemistry, Public Health Nutrition, and more, plus food safety training.

Entry Requirements:
As of 2023, the points required for this course are 289, minimum subject requirements are 2 H5 & 4 O6 / H7 with a O6/H7 in English, Irish, Maths and O6 / H7 in Agricultural Science or Biology or Chemistry or Physics or Physics/Chemistry.
This course will accept students from several QQI level 5 and level 6 courses, namely 5M3807 Laboratory Techniques and 5M5267 Food Science.
