It’s Decision Time for the 2021 LC students! Wishing them all the best of luck.

Posted on September 1, 2021

The country has been through a tough time since March 2020. The pandemic caused disruption to our everyday and academic lives no more so than for the cohort of LC students of 2021. As the schools, colleges and universities reopen your students, with  guidance, must make tough decisions about what to do in September 2021

For some of them, that choice may have already been made; employment, travel, further or higher education. Whatever their choice BCFE (BALLYFRMOT COLLEGE OF FURTHER EDUCATION) and its staff wish them every success in their endeavours.

BCFE is however conscious that many students or adults returning to study have not yet made that decision, be unsure of their choice in higher education or wish to use an alternative route to securing a place in higher education. If this is the case then enrolling on a course in BCFE in their chosen area or diversifying into a different area might be the perfect option. A full list of BCFE’s courses is available on BCFE website on www.bcfe.ie and this might help future students in making that choice. There are a limited number of places across all our departments for courses commencing in Sept 2021: Art, Animation, Business, Digital media, Media, Games, Music, Film, Television, Education, Social Care, Childcare, Nursing, Tourism, Visual Effects.

For example:

  • Students might reconsider repeating their course or gaining a new set of points through the QQI system
  • Students who completed a level 4/5 course can progress to a level 5/6 course
  • Students can complete courses in completely different academic disciplines
  • Students may have friends or family who interested in completing a course in BCFE
  • Students may be interested in one of BCFE’s new traineeships for the next academic year

Logistics and Distribution (Traineeship)

Visual Effects (Traineeship)

Certified Accountancy and Payroll Pathway (Traineeship)

Higher National Diploma (HND/Traineeship) in Irish Traditional Music Performance, Instrument Making, Repair and Maintenance

BCFE welcomes the opportunity to talk to learners who are

  • considering progressing within their chosen area
  • diversifying into a totally different area of study
  • thinking of applying for a course in the college but are unsure of their choice.

All BCFE courses are fully recognised on the qualification's framework. All our Level 5 & Level 6 programmes are approved for the SUSI grant.  Courses are designed to meet future skills requirements with each course having clearly defined progression pathways to further and/or higher education and suggested employment routes.
