Irish business needs and lifestyle trends are behind a selection of new Rathmines College courses starting in Autumn 2020. The selection of one-year QQI Level 5 courses will capture the interest of the PR and social media enthusiast as well as the environmental advocate, with courses also linked to growing business sectors, such as Aviation and Finance, and university access with a new Pre University Arts and Social Science course alongside a Pre University Media course.

All offer the perfect mix of practical and theory based modules with Work Experience and a selection of IT modules a key component of all the QQI Level 5 Certificates.
The Pre University Courses in Arts & Social Science and Media are an excellent introduction for any student looking to progress to study in these areas at university level. For Arts ands Social Science modules in History, English Literature, Psychology, Economics and Politics are the gateway to a Degree programme. Likewise, the Pre University Media course, with modules in Journalistic Writing, Research and Radio Programme Production is an excellent foundation to studying journalism, media and communications at third level.
The new Business courses perfectly partner with Irish business and industry requirements. The Aviation Finance Certificate offers a great opportunity for students to develop their skills in the Aviation Finance and Leasing Sector. This Level 5 Award will give students the opportunity to learn new skills with an emphasis on the acquisition and financing of aircraft as well as developing an understanding of the aviation sector. Career prospects are also excellent for graduates with over 50 aircraft leasing companies based in Ireland.
Environmental Studies and Business is particularly topical and this one-year course combines sustainability and environmental issues with business areas, such as marketing, economics and entrepreneurship. Students will learn how to recognise and respond positively to the opportunities and threats posed by environmental changes in many business sectors.
Payroll and Accounting is a very practical course, offering great employment opportunities across many business disciplines. The course prepares students to work in an Accounts Department with a particular emphasis on payroll. Students will be given training in essential skills to include spreadsheets, word processing and communications to allow them to progress their careers in either payroll, accounting or bookkeeping - key requirements of all businesses.
Attractive to students interested in social media, PR and marketing is the new Social Media and Public Relations Certificate. Social Media and Digital Media, very important for working in the Marketing and Media sectors, as well as web design and entrepreneurial skills are the key learning areas of this course. Students will study up to date content in topical areas such as marketing research, marketing planning, promotional methods, social media marketing, search engine optimisation, digital advertising, and public relations.
From all the new Rathmines College one-year certificates students will be eligible to apply for progression through the CAO to various Business and Marketing, Media and Arts and Social Science degree courses in TU Dublin, IADT and NU Maynooth.
