Agricultural Science at UCD expands offering and choice
Posted on January 11, 2021
The UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science now offers students 12 undergraduate programme entry routes to Agricultural Science.
For many students interested in studying Agricultural Science, choosing which subject area they would like to specialise in while completing their CAO form can be challenging. From September 2021, a reconfiguration of some existing programme codes and entry routes will provide students with more choice and time to select their preferred programme at UCD. Students selecting Agricultural Science DN250 (No Preference) will now have 11 exciting programme options to choose from including Dairy Business, Agri-Environmental Sciences, Forestry and Horticulture which were accessible via different CAO codes last year. The UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science have also launched a new Crop Science programme.
Once a student receives an offer on the Agricultural Science programme (DN250) they are guaranteed a place in any of the eleven specialisations from second year and do not have to choose their specialisation until the end of first year. For students who know which of the programmes they would like to specialise in, they can select this on their CAO application.
The degree specialisations on offer are:
Agricultural Systems Technology
Agri-Environmental Sciences
Animal and Crop Production
Animal Science
Animal Science Equine
Crop Science (NEW)
Dairy Business
Food and Agri-Business Management
Food Business with Chinese Studies
Forestry
Horticulture
A short video of highlighting each programme can be viewed here.
There are also separate CAO entry codes for Food Science (DN261) and Human Nutrition (DN262).
This year’s brochure contains individual Programme Pathway Models for each of the available entry routes, clearly outlining the subjects and career opportunities.
