Changes to Existing Programmes at UCC

The introduction of the ME programme will allow students to choose at the end of their third year of study to carry on the BE (Hons) with one further year of study or to transfer to the ME with two further years of study. This option is now available through all four Engineering pathways.

CK201 BComm Commerce

This highly innovative degree offers 5 employment-led thematic majors in fourth year. The themes have been updated to reflect the kinds of skills and knowledge that employers look for in graduates and the choice is made at the start of fourth year: Banking and Financial markets; Human Resources and Leadership; Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy; Markets and Consumer understanding; Operations and Supply Chains. No changes to entry requirements.

CK111 BA Early Years & Childhood Studies

This will be a 4-year programme from 2021, i.e., First Years starting in 2021 will be entering a four-year programme. This has been mandated by the Department and will mean significant module changes throughout the programme.

CK212 BA Economics (through Transformational Learning)

From 2020, an O6/H7 in Mathematics is required for entry (As advised in 2018). QQI Entry requirements are now aligned with other College of Business & Law entry requirements for 2020 entry and will remain aligned with CACSSS programmes for 2020 entry. QQI Entry Updates CK213 BSc Food Marketing and Entrepreneurship CK214 BSc International Development From 2021, an O6/H7 in a language will be required for both programmes. (As advised in 2018). QQI Entry for both programmes is now aligned with the rest of the College of Business & Law.

Sciences, Food Sciences and Nursing

QQI entry requirements for the Sciences, Food Science, Nutritional Sciences and Nursing programmes have been simplified. Distinctions in specific modules are still required and specified, but these can now be attained from any entry routes.
