UCC - CK124: Education Gaeilge

So you’d like to teach Irish, and to qualify as a secondary school teacher in a four-year undergrad degree?

CK124 is an undergraduate degree programme in UCC. It is a four-year, concurrent teaching degree, involving the study of Irish with one of the following subjects: French, Spanish, German, Italian or Mathematical Studies.  Graduates are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Education Gaeilge.

This is an exciting degree programme which provides unique learning and language experiences and teaching and research opportunities for students. You will study a range of modules and methodologies in your subject areas in addition to theoretical, pedagogical and professional aspects of education. You will be provided with opportunities for social and cultural engagement, in Gaeltacht and in international settings, to further enhance your learning and research as a student teacher.

A H3 in Irish is required for entry to the degree, together with one of these requirements for the chosen second subject: French (H3), German (H3, or H4 in another language for beginners), Spanish & Italian (H4, or H4 in another language for beginners), Maths (H4).
