Letterkenny Institute of Technology (LYIT), is preparing for the annual Open Day event which takes place on 19 November. This year’s event will be held online on a virtual platform. The event usually welcomes over 2500 prospective students from across Ireland on an annual basis. LYIT is delighted to be able to run the event online and everyone is welcome to attend.
The event will provide information on the 54 CAO programmes available for 2021. It will provide detail on new programme offerings, student supports, grants, scholarships, accommodation and much more.
Paul Hannigan, President of LYIT says: “We are delighted to offer this event virtually. This event gives students an insight to college life and we hope that our virtual video tours and live webinars during the event provide students with information that will guide them on their journey to third level”.
The event commences at 10 am on Thursday, 19 November. Students can take a 360 degree video tour of both the Letterkenny and Killybegs campuses. There will be a live chat option on the day where students can have their queries answered by academic and support staff. There will be a schedule of Live Webinars discussing topics such as making a CAO application, grants, HEAR/DARE, scholarships, student accommodation and student supports. The Heads of the Department and academic staff at LYIT will also provide an informative video message for attendees.
Fiona Kelly, LYIT Schools Liaison Officer is delighted to welcome potential students to this event: “I am delighted that LYIT will host this event. It has been a tough time for students and we recognise that at LYIT. We have put lots of planning and organising into this event to ensure that it will be fun and informative for all who wish to find out more about the fantastic opportunities available at LYIT for 2021”.
Everyone is welcome to attend this event. Whether you are a secondary school student, a parent/guardian, a mature student or an early school leaver, there will be staff on hand to help you. Perhaps you would like to further your career with a postgraduate programme or perhaps the current pandemic has resulted in unemployment. At LYIT, there really is something for everyone so login on the day and explore your options.
