Cyberpsychology at ATU Donegal: Gain an understanding of the psychology of digital technologies

Launched in 2022, BSc Hons in Cyberpsychology at ATU Donegal new program will equip students with the tools to understand the psychology behind our interactions with digital technologies and how the technologies themselves are created. This field is experiencing rapid growth with cyberpsychology graduates gaining employment in social media giants such as Twitter, Tiktok and Instagram.

From social media, online gaming to Amazon, Netflix, web design and more, students of this course will have the opportunity to participate in a work placement to develop their skills in a real life context.

As the programme was first made available to students in 2022, the points required for this course are 327, but this is subject to change. Be sure to check the university’s website for the most up to date information.

-        Human Computer Interaction

-        The Psychology of Online Leisure

-        Scripting with Python

-        Digital Health, Education and Employment

ATU Donegal lecturer Simon McCabe speaks of the myriad of career options available to students upon graduating this course:

“With a degree in cyberpsychology there are a number of routes open to you both in industry and further study. In industry there’s anything from phone application design to augmented reality space to virtual spaces. On the academic side you could choose to dive further into the computing side of things.”
