Kickstart your career in the wonderful world of Hospitality!

SETU Waterford provide a hands-on course that will qualify and teach you all the necessary practical skills that will help take your career to the next level. You can choose to study a language with this course and complete a placement abroad.

WD091 Hospitality Management is a four year, full time, Level 8 course. The term Hospitality Management is most commonly associated with Hotels but also includes careers in entertainment venues, restaurants, bars and casual-dining, event management and contract catering.

During the first semester of year 3, students are required to complete a placement organised by the college in a hospitality organisation in Ireland or abroad. Students are actively involved in the decision making process in order that their choice of work experience is appropriate to their career aspirations and interests. This work experience allows students to gain real experience of working in a hospitality business.

This course allows you to study a language as an Elective:

  • French
  • German
  • Italian
  • Spanish

 Entry Requirements:

The Leaving Cert minimum entry requirements are 2 subjects: H5, 4 subjects: O6/H7, English or Irish: O6/H7 and Mathematics: O6/H7. 225 points were required for entry in 2021, a drop of 4 from 2020.

 This course will accept Any QQI Level 5 or 6 Major Award as an entry requirement.

 What You Will Study:

This course also includes topics such as front office management, accommodation and food operations, IT, a language, financial accounting, management studies, marketing, law, and economics. Students spend six months in a work placement in a national or international hotel.
