GY313: Environmental Health and Safety at University of Galway is a four year Level 8 full time course is designed to teach learners about the relationship between human health and safety and workplace factors. Areas of engineering, law, science and health science are studied to develop students into professionals with the ability to inspect workplaces and uphold them to hygiene standards. Students will learn about the rules and regulations in place to protect employees and the hazards that may occur in the workplace. In first year students study law and gain an understanding of the laws protecting employees.
Graduates will be highly qualified health and safety professionals having completed a seven month industry work placement in their third year. The study of the human gross anatomy i.e. the structures of the human body visible to the naked eye takes place in second year.

Entry Requirements:
As of 2022, the points required for this course are 402, students are required to have the following minimum subjects: 2 H65 & 4O6/H7. Students will need an O6/H7 in English, Irish, Maths and in Agricultural Science or Biology or Chemistry OR Physics OR Physics/Chemistry or Computer Science.
