The Higher Diploma in Science (Software Development) at Maynooth University is a one-year full-time programme in Maynooth University for students who already have a level 8 qualification in a subject other than computer science or software development. The focus is on industrial software development using the Java programming language and this course prepares students for direct entry into careers in the software industry and careers that require a high level of software skills in combination with their previous degree level study and work experience.

This course is part of the Springboard plus initiative, funded by the Irish Government with the support of the European Union, and designed with direct involvement from employers, in order to meet priority skills needs and to future-proof graduates with industry relevant skills for the future world of work.Successful applicants are eligible for free or 90% subsidised fees!

Applicants who do not meet the articulated minimum entry criteria, but who have attained significant experiential learning through their life, are encouraged to consider availing of our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) route. This pathway will require the applicant to outline learning achieved in a non-formal (short courses of learning) and informal (life and professional experience) capacity.
