Maynooth University congratulates Booker Prize winning author Paul Lynch

Maynooth University proudly extends its congratulations to Paul Lynch, the current Writer-in-Residence at the university, for securing the prestigious Booker Prize with his fifth novel, "Prophet Song." This exceptional literary achievement, delving into the exploration of extremism in an alternative or near-future Ireland, emerged during Paul's tenure as the 2019 Kildare County Council Writer-in-Residence at Maynooth.

In addition to his award-winning writing, Paul plays a pivotal role at the university, enriching the MA in Creative Writing, which is now in its second year. His contribution includes teaching a module on creativity and novel-writing, showcasing his commitment to fostering the next generation of writers. The Arts Council residency provides invaluable support, offering Paul the resources and space necessary for his creative endeavors.

Paul Lynch's triumph with the Booker Prize is a testament to his exceptional talent and dedication to the craft. Professor Alison Hood, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Philosophy at Maynooth University, commends Paul, stating, "His impact through his literary contributions and teaching embodies creativity and academic excellence within our community.
