The highly prestigious World Skills Ireland event is returning to Dublin’s RDS Simmonscourt from Wed 25-Fri 27 September. World Skills is considered the Olympics of Skills. The Irish event is a National Skills Competition where the best in each skill area will represent Ireland at the 48th WorldSkills competition in Shanghai, China in 2026. The Irish competition culminates with an awards event on Friday 27 September where the Silver Medal winners in each category will be awarded.
Kerry ETB and Kerry College are involved at several levels with a range of apprentices in competition, staff holding the roles of National Skills Expert, Team Leader and Competition Examiner with various staff teams present as part of the exhibition. Visitors can chat with the teams behind the Wind Turbine Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship on the Green Skills stand the National Commis Chef Apprenticeship. The Stonecutting and Stonemasonry Apprenticeship will hold a National Skills Showcase in Architectural Stonemasonry in partnership with the OPW and the National Digital Skills Centre team will be on the Creative Media stand. The Kerry College Admissions Office team will be in the Further Education and Training exhibitor area.
In addition to the National Skills Competition, the event is also a large-scale exhibition on the various skills-based careers available to school leavers, career changers and returners. Visitors to World Skills Ireland will be able to hear inspiring real-live talks on the ‘Heroes Stage’, visit the careers zone, take part in competitions, try-a-skill/interactive areas, and view a wide range of exhibitions and demonstrations.
World Skills Ireland is a partnership between enterprise, industry, education, training and government that raises the profile and recognition of skills and apprenticeships and prepares the talent of today for the careers of the future.
World Skills Ireland is a sell-out again this year with 30,000 attendees registered. It is held on the same days as the Higher Options event at the RDS Main Hall.
