Shannon College of Hotel Management Competition Winners at CATEX Hospitality Show 2021

CATEX 2021 is Ireland’s largest foodservice and hospitality show.

Maggie Fan, a 4^th year student competed in the Asian Cuisine Competition.

The citation for this was Asian Ethnic Cuisine - Served Street Food Style. 40 minutes will be allowed to prepare, cook and serve 2 x Main Course Dishes from an Asian Country chosen from the alphabetical list of Asian Countries displayed here.

Maggie achieved a Gold Medal in this competition and received excellent feedback from the judges, she came out with a score of 90.4. Maggie made a take on her own flavours from her home region (Sichuan Region) which was excellent.

Sean Caufield, a 3^rd year student competed in the Irish Pork Competition: Junior Class.

This competition is open to all college students currently studying on a culinary arts programme. 40 minutes will be allowed to prepare, cook, and present 2 x plated main course portions of an Irish Pork dish of the competitor’s choice. All ingredients to be provided by the competitor. A brief menu description along with the recipe and method for the dish must be provided.

Sean took away a Silver Medal and received Great feedback from the judges, they were very complementary on the flavours in his dish.
