"I always knew growing up working with my family in the retail industry that I wanted a career where I had the opportunity work with the public. I went to Shannon College open day back in 2017 and knew it was the right place for me. You could tell straight away the dedication the lecturers and staff had to ensure the success of every student and I can say I spent the best five years of my educational life at Shannon and I have made friendships that will last a life time. After graduating from Shannon College in 2022 I worked at the Armada Spanish Point in the West of Clare. The experience I gained working there as Assistant Rooms Division Manager and later Property Manager of Armada House is something I know will stand to me for the rest of my career. I really could not have asked for a better place to start off my management journey. After working with the Armada for over two years I had an urge to go and travel. I moved to Australia last June and began working in Club Wyndham Airlie Beach as a Resort Duty Manager. Living and working in a tropical Queensland, getting to know one of Australia's main tourist hubs ‘The Whitsundays’ was an unparalleled experience. I now live in Sydney and work in the Pullman Sydney Airport Hotel managed by Accor as a Front Office Assistant Manager. Moving to Australia has had its ups and downs, but the Irish community and my fellow Shannon friends have made it an incredible experience. The connections within the Shannon Alumni network are just as strong here as they are back home. A degree from Shannon College of Hotel Management will open your world up to endless opportunities. The training and industry exposure that you get during your 5 years will give you the foundations for an outstanding and successful career no matter where in the world you find yourself."

Forget your typical Irish summer when you go to Shannon! With our alumni network, I've gone from pouring pints in West Clare to the bustling streets of Boston at the Intercontinental Hotel. Shannon College gave me the push I needed to step out of my comfort zone to chase opportunities and let me tell you it was totally worth it! Not only did we clock in at work, but we also clocked in some serious miles—from New York to Las Vegas with stops in Nantucket, Cape Cod and San Francisco. One of the key benefits of studying at Shannon College lies in its community - comprised of both alumni and faculty. Together, they are the pillars of its success. Often referred to as a family, Shannon's sense of community becomes evident once you become a part of it. Throughout your time at Shannon, lecturers and staff offer unwavering guidance and support, which is unmatched to any other course and extends far beyond graduation. The staff at Shannon instils true hospitality in its students, which we learn and carry with us as alumni. This mindset is what distinguishes Shannon students from everyone else. For my final year placement, I started as Event Operations Supervisor at Jumeirah Carlton Tower, London and was later promoted to Meeting and Events Floor Manager before finishing my placement. I graduated in March 2024 and received the Mitzi Corscadden Scholarship, awarded to the graduate who demonstrated entrepreneurship and leadership during their time at Shannon College. Various scholarships are given at Shannon College graduations, acknowledging students' contributions and rewarding their hard work. Though my days in Shannon have come to a close, my enthusiasm for the hospitality industry thrives, and my journey with Shannon College is a lifelong one. Placement Locations 

This Summer, our year 2 and final year students jetted off on their placements in leading hotels around the Globe. As part of our degree programme, students spend 21 monts working at operational, supervisory and management in training levels in hotels across the world during a full-time paid placement. In year 2, students are placed in European cities based off their 3^rd language. This year, to name a few, students are located in Malaga Spain, Tenerife, Belgium, Luxembourg, along the Cote D'Azur in France, Frankfurt, Germany, across London in the United Kingdom and in leading properties here in Ireland.

Our final year students have packed bags and travelled across Ireland, the UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Canada, China, India, USA, UAE, Australia and the Seychelles.
