MTU Wins Prestigious National Delta Award
The marketing discipline team at MTU began as an informal community of practice around authentic assessment for marketing. However, the DELTA process has resulted in a much broader focus that centres on teaching, learning and assessment across the discipline. The team includes individuals with a mix of both academic and industry experience who recently also won an Education Award for Best Business Collaboration in recognition of the extensive level of business engagement each year in line with their authentic assessment practices. The team has been actively involved in the overall growth of their department over the past eight years, an experience which has shaped their craft, moulded their thinking and positioned their expertise as being of recognisable value to their students and collaboration partners.
“Marketing has always been recognised for its excellence within MTU and by our graduates. Now, we have the external validation that our marketing lecturers are top class. This is a great testament to their student-centred approach. Equally, we can underline to employers why our graduates are in demand – simply, our approach ensures they are ready for the real-world of the fast-moving marketing profession”.

The DELTA Awards form an integral part of the overall enhancement approach of the National Forum, recognising the discipline as a key unit of change in the achievement of meaningful impact. The Awards amplify good practices for the benefit of wider local and national audiences, fostering development, innovation and collegiality within higher education communities. All discipline groups across Irish higher education who can demonstrate specific achievements in teaching and learning enhancement and a clear commitment to future enhancement of teaching and learning are eligible to apply for the DELTA Award.
