Make the world work better with a degree in Product Design - TU Dublin (TU811)

Product design is all about creating a new product that a business can sell to its customers. Industry, commerce, retail and domestic markets are hungry for new products of all varieties. Every product moves through a development cycle, which the product designer oversees.

TU Dublin - City Campus offer a Level 8 Product Design programme (TU811) that aims to produce graduates with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to work in today’s demanding design fields.



Modules include everything from Applied Physics for Design, Creative Design Fundamentals, Design Mathematics, Manufacture & Materials, Innovation in Design and Design Tools & Technology to Management and Strategy, Product Visualisation, Prototyping & Modelmaking, and Product Development Studio.

Graduates go on to work in a wide array of industries, including medical devices, agri-tech, automotive, sports technology, strategic service design, user experience design, toy and game design, and many more.

Vinh Truong, a final-year student of Product Design at TU Dublin, made the final of the Student Entrepreneur Awards – an Enterprise Ireland initiative which aims to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship among students. Watch more about his project here:



This was the 2nd year in a row that TU Dublin Product Design students were in the finals - 2019 Enterprise Ireland ICT Award

Other achievements include 2018 winner of the national James Dyson Award, 2019 runner up and2018 runner up.

Student Daniella Kaligorskey also won the overall London based Design Innovation Plastics award in 2019
