TU Dublin, Tallaght will be running a week-long academy for Transition Year & Senior Cycle students this July! This week-long summer camp focuses on exploring in a fun and interactive way, food innovation through culinary arts using a health and wellness approach to eating and cooking. It will be delivered by Chef Colm Folan.

This summer camp can help interested students be introduced to the exciting world of culinary arts. The culinary arts are a bustling industry with an abundance of opportunity with roles from entry level Kitchen Porters and Commis Chefs, through to Chef de Partie, Sous Chef, and Executive or Head Chefs always in demand throughout Ireland. There are many pathways into culinary arts – work experience, FET courses and through PLC and CAO.

The programme introduces the students to the professional kitchen, gives them an understanding of flavour and nutrition, application of healthy cooking techniques as a backdrop to designing a team-based health focused café concept and testing a pop-up café.

Every day is different, and all participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Other highlights include:

  • Food Innovation Team challenges with breakfast, brunch, lunch, and afternoon tea
  • Food photography
  • Enjoy a meal experience in a restaurant.
