Duration: September-May.

If you require upskilling in core subjects necessary for progression in the Emergency Services field or similar health allied careers/rescue careers this is the course to develop your readiness further.

Career/Progression Opportunities:

The purpose of this award is to enable the learner to develop the knowledge, skills and competencies required to undertake a career in the primary emergency services such as An Garda Síochána, Ambulance or Fire Services. There are also employment opportunities available to students with private ambulance and event medical providers.

Students may progress to The National Qualification in Emergency Medical Technology (NQEMT-EMT) offered by DX2 Training Solutions.

Possibility of entering Paramedic degrees in UL and UK subject to entry requirements.

Pre-Uni Environmental & Biodiversity Studies  -  Level 5

Are you passionate about saving the planet? Do you want to make a difference in your career choice?

Students will be uniquely positioned to understand and contribute to the biggest issues which face our planet today; climate change and biodiversity protection.

This Course will focus on “learning by doing”: to include Ecological Field Trips to Bull Island and St. Anne’s Park in Dublin. Practical sessions will teach students how to assess water quality in the Tolka and Dodder Estuary to study biodiversity and prepare environmental plans.

Students will focus on specific ecological and environmental topics, studying plant science, carbon footprints, biodiversity and the natural environment, greenhouse effect of carbon dioxide and Environmental Impact Assessments.

Career/Progression Opportunities

Progression opportunities to Higher Education Institutions e.g. UCD, TU Dublin etc and employment in Environmental & Engineering Consultancies, Energy waste & water management utilities & local Government.
