I got my Leaving Certificate results back I was disappointed at first, I didn’t get the course I wanted to study Science at UCD; I was recommended to do a course at Killester College of Further Education as way of achieving my goal. I thought that it would be hard missing a full year out, as all my friends have moved on to study at universities, but I was wrong; my time in Killester was great and flew by and with the help of the wonderful staff that I know all worked so hard to help me and all of our class to achieve what we would like to do in the future, which I’m very thankful for and really without them I wouldn’t now me a UCD student. It felt more like a helpful transition period between Secondary School and College, with assignments and workload and tasks similar to what I am doing now at UCD and I was prepared going into college with what I’ve done at Killester. I made some great friends and it really felt like it was a very short year and I was surprised of what I was able to achieve in that time. Having completed the Business Studies course in Killester college in 2018/19, I can’t speak highly enough of the quality of the college and staff. The modules were great in terms of getting an insight into the world of business. The assignments were plentiful and tough at times, but it allowed me to greatly improve my time management and critical analysis skills. The teachers and the career guidance were great in aiding us throughout the duration of the course.Through the Work Experience module, I received a full-time paid internship in Irish Life in the summer of 2019 which would not have happened if it were not for this module in particular.I obtained my first choice, Commerce in UCD. “After finishing my Leaving Cert in 2019 I was really unsure of what I wanted to study. The Cultural and Heritage Studies course in Killester College really helped me figure that out because of the wide variety of modules offered. This course also helped me develop my IT, presentation, essay writing, and research skills. When I completed this course I was accepted into a Bachelor of Arts degree in Trinity College Dublin.
